Benches “Women Beyond” project

The 123 benches of the seaside promenade of Borghetto Santo Spirito have been named after as many Women who have distinguished themselves in the fields of science, culture, the fight against gender-based violence and commitment to legality. This initiative, launched by the Municipal Administration of Borghetto Santo Spirito in 2019 and titled “Women Beyond”, continued in the following years to identify Women who have dedicated their lives to overcoming limits and achieving important milestones. Each bench displays a plaque with the indication of the project and the name of the woman to whom it was dedicated, accompanied by the motivation.
By approaching these benches and reading about the abilities and determination of the Women to whom they are dedicated, everyone will be able to reflect on the stories of those who, with their own strength and determination, overcame obstacles, conventions and achieved important milestones.
With this initiative, the Municipal Administration intends to send a strong message against the barbarism of gender-based violence, so that the Culture of respect can become a common language.
