Church Madonna degli Angeli
Description
The history of the small rural church, located in the hinterland of Borghetto Santo Spirito, in the Prigliani region, dates back to around the middle of the 1600s, precisely to 1645.
The devoted Giacomo Maria Orsero fu Pietro Batta, resident of Borgo Casazze, decided to build an oratory dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels.
On June 7, 1645, they blessed the cornerstone, which was laid on June 11, when a dedication was written and deposited on parchment paper, written in Latin, which records the date of June 11, Sunday of the Holy Trinity.
On July 29, 1646, the Rector of Borghetto Pier Antonio Perelli blessed “the altarpiece of the Holy Titular” (Painting of Our Lady of the Angels, today displayed in the parish church of San Matteo in the historic center of Borghetto Santo Spirito), painted by the celebrated painter Giuseppe Badaracco, carried in procession by members of the confraternities of S. Maria Maddalena and of Christian Doctrine, and the first mass was celebrated inside the small oratory, with great joy and the air resonant with various bursts of firecrackers and instrumental music.
