The “Laughter & Magic” festival will kick off on Thursday, July 9th at 9:30 PM at Piazza Marinai d’Italia, a series of four evenings dedicated to comedy and entertainment.
Mario Zucca, an Italian actor, cabaret performer and voice actor, will inaugurate the calendar with a show capable of alternating irony and life stories.
Mario Zucca became famous for launching his catchphrase on Drive In in 1987, was a regular guest on the Maurizio Costanzo Show from 1992 to 1995, the year he also worked alongside Vittorio Gassman at the Teatro Parioli in Rome. Alongside his theatrical activity, which often saw him working with cabaret performer (and his wife) Marina Thovez, Zucca carried out considerable voice acting work. He lent his rough and deep-toned voice to characters such as Zordon (Power Rangers) and Anastasio Farina, played by Paulo Goulart in the telenovela Terra nostra 2 – La speranza. Very active especially in cartoon dubbing, in the series inspired by the Batman character he dubbed Bane in the 1992 series and an aged Bruce Wayne in Batman of the Future. He also dubbed Al Satan and the God of the Earth in Dragon Ball and Mr. Krab in SpongeBob.
Other characters he voiced include Shredder (2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series), Gran Bailam in Chi la fa, l’aspetti! – Iznogoud, Mr. Krab in SpongeBob, Mr. Larrity in Code Monkeys, Fred Flintstone in The Flintstones, the supercomputer Giganet in Yui – Virtual Girl, Dinobot in Biocombat, Mr. Freeze in The Batman, Galactus (1998 Silver Surfer series), Zeff, Kuroobi, Pickles, Blik Wapol, McKinley, Braham, Barbanera and Magellan in One Piece, Magneto in Insuperabili X-Men, Discord in My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic.
In 2011 he received the “Special mention cartoon voice” award at the eighth edition of the Leggio d’oro.[2]
During the evening, Zucca will guide the audience on a journey through female figures that have marked his life path, from his mother to his teachers, from his wife to his daughter.
With his brilliant and engaging style, he will bring to life a story made of amusing episodes, memories and reflections, offering a show capable of making you smile and spend a pleasant evening.
The “Laughter & Magic” festival will continue on Thursday, July 30th with Gabriele Mago Gentile and Nicole Magolie and their magic and music show, Thursday, August 6th with Beppe Braida and the show “Piano B”, concluding on Thursday, August 13th with Daniele Raco in “BEST (in a world of John and Paul).
